Art in the Loft EXCURSIONS: We are extending our classroom out into the community to enrich student experiences, as we explore various artistic modalities from natural parks to brick & mortar... and you are invited!

Join us and our friends at Dinosaur Gardens, Jesse Besser Museum, and The Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center (NOAA Marine Sanctuary) as we explore three unique community experiences. Melding artistic art forms into history and modern science!

Maritime Center:

Students will Feel the power of a Lake Huron Storm while walking the deck of a Life-sized schooner and "swim" over a shipwreck in the dive tubes, as they are lead by education specialist Daniel Moffat and our AITL instructors on a guided tour.

After an inspiring tour of the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center, students will have likely swam up an appetite. Making their way back to the classroom where they will satisfy their tastebuds and keep those creative juices flowing with a taste of the culinary arts. A fun, health-minded, nautical themed snack (created by them), will be on the menu!

After tastebuds and tummies are satisfied, students will then apply all of the inspiration gathered from their museum adventure into multiple hands on art projects, with artists and educator Alison Rae Campbell.

Alison's artistic style focuses on creating through discovery, colorful energy and problem solving. Encouraging her students through enriching (and often whimsical) play based art.

In-between projects, our creative kiddos will be invited back to the dive tube for additional play as time allows.

So grab a comfy pair of shoes, your water bottle, and join us as we explore the Great Lakes Heritage Center from a different perspective, through the eyes of artists!

*Students will first meet at the entrance of the Great Lakes Heritage Center where they will be checked in prior to a morning of creative fun!

*Guardians are welcome to help chaperone, please let our education coordinator know if this is of interest so we can include you in the festivities.
