CREATIVE AGING AT THE LOFT
Responsive, purposeful, and accessible arts education programming is a foundational pillar for lifelong learning. This can only be achieved when every older adult is valued, creative, proud, and part of a community. Our newest programming focuses on exactly that.
Art in the Loft is partnering with the Alpena Senior Citizens Center (ASCC) in a program called "Art and the 5 Senses" which is an interactive and hands-on class for those suffering from Alzheimer's and dementia and their caregivers. The visual and culinary arts are taught into monthly sessions for up to 25 participants in each class. The participants are those moderately affected and living at home with a spouse or family member as their caregiver and take advantage of ASCC's experiences and opportunities and for residents living in the memory care units at Besser Senior Living Community.

Also once per month, the Loft hosts culinary classes and visual arts workshops to patrons of the Alpena Senior Citizen Center. Our members make this possible because all of these programs are at no-cost to those participating.
