Artist Bio:
Judy Lyon is a retired high school art teacher and practicing artist who pursues many kinds of artistic processes from printmaking to mandalas. She learned the art of batik in collage during the mid-70s, and that is one of her most accomplished methods. Judy has also studied yoga and meditation extensively.
Judy is originally from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Art and Psychology, with an emphasis in Art Therapy in 1977, from Grand Valley State University in Michigan. She attended the University of South Florida in Sarasota to obtain her MA degree in Guidance Counseling in 1997, and she earned a Certification in Art and Healing in 2008 from Ringling College of Art and Design. She is a certified Guidance Counselor & Art Teacher.
Judy is a current member of FAEA (Fl. Art Educators Association) and SAEA (Sarasota Art Educators Association). She is a frequent presenter at Expressive Arts Florida Institute workshops and trainings in Sarasota. Judy has presented Expressive Arts Trainings and Retreats in Florida and Michigan. Judy has exhibited her artwork throughout both Michigan and Florida.
Judy Lyon lives in Sarasota, Florida and spends her summers in Huron Beach, Mi.
