As part of our Art in the Loft Excursions, our Art on the Island Summer Camp is Back!

We are extending our classroom out into the community to enrich student experiences, as we explore various artistic modalities from natural parks to brick & mortar... and you are invited!

As long as there has been art, artists have been inspired by nature. A combination that allows connection and inspiration... Join us, for our 4th annual summer camp series, Art on the Island! Where students are encouraged to explore endless forms of inspiration as we hike the trails of Sportsman's Island. Students will apply our gathered inspiration in multiple hands-on, nature inspired art projects and camp themed snacks.

On the agenda:

  • Daily Hiking, Exploration, Sightseeing and Creative Play

  • Weaving and Beading with Nature

  • Bubbles & Hoops

  • Chalk Art

  • Bug Hotels

  • Painting

  • Clay Working

Students will also gain a "taste" of the culinary arts by assembling their own snacks each day. Kicking things off with a s'mores style trail mix.

So grab a comfy pair of hiking shoes, your water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray or hat and join us as we explore and implement the beauty that surrounds us!

*Students will meet at the island park entrance where they will be checked in prior to camp and use the facilities (if needed) before entering on the island. Guardians are encouraged to join in on the fun with younger participants, but are not required as we are also staffed to accommodate our groups needs and safety.

**In the event of a poor weather forecast, students will be notified and festivities will be relocated back into our classroom at Art in the Loft; where we would celebrate all things nature by bringing the outdoors in.

Respectful Discloser:

  • Classes are subject to a minimum registration of 6 or more guests (unless otherwise marked). Numbers that fall below our minimum will unfortunately prevent us from hosting, and reimbursements will be made in the manner they were given. Registration cut off is four days prior to our scheduled session so that our instructors have adequate time to adjust as needed.

  • Art in the Loft strives to make art accessible for everyone. As an equal opportunity regardless of financial background, we offer scholarships for all age groups. These can be found on our website by visiting www.artintheloft.org under the "CREATE" tab or by contacting us directly. *Scholarships are available on a first come basis.

  • Registering for AITL classes, workshops and experiences on and off our premises is done so at one's own risk (if you are registering a friend or family member, you are doing so with their consent and agreement).

  • Our instructors, volunteers and staff strive to maintain a safe and health minded environment, however accidents and/or situations can arise. In the event of an emergency, you are giving us/AITL full permission to handle with care and seek medical attention as needed. *Please notify AITL staff and/or instructors prior to classes, workshops, and experiences of any medical conditions and/or allergies that may apply. Your health and safety are very important to us and arrangements will be made to the best of our ability to honor such.

  • By registering you are also acknowledging that AITL staff, instructors and volunteers cannot be held responsible for one's actions, the actions or inactions of others (or any combination of both).

  • If a student or registered guest is displaying behavior that could be hurtful or harmful to themselves and/or others (verbal and/or physical), they may forfeit their registration and will be asked to leave (or arrangements made for parental/caregiver pick up).

  • AITL is a nonprofit and fully relies on fundraising, grant funding, donations and the like to operate. Photographs and videography help aid in this process. By registering you are giving AITL permission to use photos/videos taken during activities for promotional purposes.
