Chef Griffin Sexton (a former Graduate of Johnson & Whales University in Providence, Rhode Island), is currently here visiting before returning to work in California next month. While in Alpena, he is inspired to share some of his time, knowledge and talent with all of us. Devised offerings every Thursday in July (excluding the 4th). Join us for one, two, or all three!
Last but surely not least, Stocks, Soups & Sauces!
In this class, Chef Sexton will pack a week long course into 2.5 flavorful hours. Offering an overview of stocking, including beef, chicken, vegetable and fish stocks. Followed by hands-on group participation in crafting three different soups. Succeeding an overview and demonstration of 5 mother sauces - Tomato, béchamel, veloute, espagnole, and hollandaise (class participation incorporated into two).
After both the visual and hands on lessons, student guests will be invited to enjoy a coffee or cocktail while dining in on the evenings work among our SummerView art exhibit in the gallery. An evening of culinary education and an experience you won't want to miss!
