French Cuts & Knife Skills
Chef Griffin Sexton (a former Graduate of Johnson & Whales University in Providence, Rhode Island), is currently here visiting before returning to work in California next month. While in Alpena, he is inspired to share some of his time, knowledge and talent with all of us. Devised offerings every Thursday in July (excluding the 4th). Join us for one, two, or all three!
First up, French Cuts & Knife Skills!
In this class, Chef Sexton will set you up at a cutting board with YOUR new German engineered stainless steel compact chef knife to use personally as he guides you through a variety of basic French cuts. Including but not limited to, Julienne, brunoise, baronet, macedoine, partmentier, carre, chiffonade and mincing. Offering additional pointers and tips on safety, positioning and posture along the way.
Following the hands-on portion of class will be a visual demonstration of advanced knife skills. Including supremes, turning asparagus, fluting mushrooms, torn potatoes and chicken fabrication.
After both the visual and hands on lessons, student guests will be invited to enjoy a coffee or cocktail while dining in on the evenings work among our SummerView art exhibit in the gallery. An evening of culinary education and an experience you won't want to miss!
