Jacob kuznicki

Painting

My name is Jacob Kuznicki and as long as I can remember I have enjoyed art and being creative.  Through all my years of school it was pretty common for teachers to remind me that I should be paying attention to the lesson rather than on drawing or coloring on my work.  As a child, I would find myself mesmerized by Bob Ross and Commander Mark (Imagination Station) which would play on one of the five TV stations that we could pick up.  By watching these shows I picked up an understanding of depth, contour, and the relation of objects to each other.  These concepts would carry with me into my adult life and be invaluable as I learned to design with 3D CAD systems.
I did not pursue art in college but did take one watercolor painting class at ACC.  I have worked to improve my art skills through reading books and articles; watching how-to videos; attending seminars and workshops when I can; and surrounding myself with talented and creative people.
On display, you will see visual art that I have created over the years, but another aspect of art that I actively work at is martial arts.  I currently hold a 4th degree black belt in karate and am the master instructor for Northern Tiger Karate at the Aplex.  I have been studying and practicing martial arts for over 25 years.  The martial arts have driven me to further improve my understanding of biomechanics and movement, which I try to represent in my 2D art.  I have also had the opportunity to promote several students to black belt over the years.  I have made it a tradition to present my students reaching this level with a personalized piece of art.
I have been very fortunate to find a lovely wife and have wonderful children who fully support my art addiction and inspire me to keep improving.  I look forward to continuing my path to artistic mastery.
